Halo,

Jonathan here. newbie too. Drop by and say Hello to all bros & sis. still polishing go-kart skills, no confident for the match yet. Hope to join the race sooner.

Cheers~

Hi Jon,
My advice : unless you have a personal coach, the quicker way to learn is to start racing in my-kart's K3 category. That way, you will learn very quickly from fellow drivers and also get guidance FOC from the sifu(s) aka buayas. There is a 10 year student who progressed within 3 or 4 races from zero to hero and earned the title of baby buaya. YOu should'nt worry too much about getting beaten in the beginning but just race with a view to learn and you will be amaze yourself at the speed you have improved after maybe 6 races depending on your passion and committment.

...come la...
Halo Naza,

Hi there Liang,
welcome to the my-kart community. Yes we will give you lots of pointers but not to a buaya, if you are one.

Come and meet us on round 6 on saturday 6th morning and join our race.
Thanks naza. But how do I know who is who?
As you arrive the track, look for the operators, then ask him or her if any my-karters are at the track as well. If anyone of us are there, he or she will point you right to us.
Thanks for your reply. Already checked out but wouldn't be able to make it for the Oct 3rd event. Is there any casual practising session?
Usually all the casual practice session, we called them CHICKEN WINGS~ How do we get that name? They will show you on the track and you will understand it easier. Anyway, all these practice sessions, are seldom posted online, but through SMS. Do you know any mykarters?

Hi ppl. I'm kinda new here and am going to try go kart. can anyone here pls tell me how much its going to cost me including the suit the helmets and the kart.BTW im from penang and is there any place in penang or close to penang where i can go karting Thanks.

Hi mebrahim,

the cost all depends on what you are looking for. A good entry level helmet such as SOL could set you back around RM300+ or an Arai could be as much as RM2k upwards! Likwise suits such as the Indonesian brand which is quite OK could be as little as RM350 or an Alpinestars can be as much as RM800 upwards!

If you are new to karting, I'd strongly recommend some fun karting first using rental karts. You can familairise yourself with general karting techniques and initially just wear protective clothing such as jeans, long sleeve shirt and the operator will supply the helmet (and hair net usually). If you enjoy it and want to take it the next level then start shopping around for whatever bargains are avaialble. Often members will post up accessories for sale in this forum.

thanks alot for the info.btw is there anyplace in penang that i can go karting.and how much will the karts cost. :)
