MEMBERSHIP FEES - MEMBER'S SPOUSE AND CHILDREN TOO?
Folks,
This subject was discussed in the last TT session at "Al- Khalifah" Kota Damansara. If family members of a registered member wishes to be registered members of Kelab Mykart, he / she will have to pay quite a tidy sum on fees depending on the family's size. So looking from the angle of making it easy and not too costly for people to join Kelab My-Kart Selangor, it was thought that perhaps, family members of registered members should not be subjected to full fees......or should they?
......and your thoughts?

my response is let's have family packages:
a. one principal member
b. immediate family member (spouse, children under 23) entitled to supplementary membership.
i would suggest that a committee resolution be passed on this. we should agree on -
a. criteria for supplementary membership (as above)
b. fee for supplementary membership (RM10 joining + RM10 annually)
c. benefit entitlement of supplementary member (the same as principal)
the reason i'd consider this for family memberships is to build a stronger social and family bond for the karters in the family. karting, like all motorsports requires significant family support.
any other thoughts?

Just got to read this thread...
Is the options available are like
1. Ikhwan being the principle as he is eligible (8 being the min age)
2. Me as the principle and Ikhwan Supplementary
If that's the case, I have no objection on both options. I will get in touch with Naza about this.
Just a suggestion based on some experience
If my-kart wish to get the family involved by having family package then the principal must be the Head of The Family. A flat fee should be charge instead of per head basis. Fees like 150 with 2 or 3 nominees or for the whole family (just as example). Make it cheap if we wish to see more parents getting themselves involved. Of course this fee must be mentioned clearly in the constitution. In this case also it will be easier for the treasurer to do his work. No unwanted confusion.
23 years old is a little too old. 18 is ok. Anything above up to 23 years can be allowed only if he/she is still studying (proof is required)

yazid - my responses:
a. fee for each supplementary member: administrative. we need to prepare a separate ID card for each member.
b. 23 yo age cut off: reason for this is the simplify process of having to prove person is studying. we shall take it as given until age 23 (or perhaps slightly lower at 21 or 22?).

17 - Form five, SPM
19 - Form six, STPM
20 - Diploma level (3 yrs after SPM)
22 - degree (3 years after STPM)
23 - degree (2 yrs after diploma...some are 3 yrs)
24 - degree (Medical / architecture- 5 year courses)
25 - maybe.....due to various circumstances
.....23 years seems to be a good average to be adopted as the cut off point without need for proof. Proof may be required if above 23.

i would go for 21 as the internationally agreed age of adulthood. this is also the voting age, right?
anyway, i finished my degree and started working at age 21 yrs 2 mths...but that's because I'm weird and willing to sacrifice the best years of my life for the company...
anyway, i vote for 21...i think those over 21 with family/parents interestd in joining my-kart are probably in the minority (sorry Naza!), and should be managed on an exception basis...most in this age range would probably join on their own...

administratively, I'd like to avoid managing exceptions and seeking proof of studying. hence my suggestion for 23 - high probability of being employed.

Have discussed it with Naza and I am choose to be the principal member and Ikhwan will be my supplementary. So I owe the club RM10+120+10+10 = RM150.00. Will pay this Sat.

Guys, let look back at our main objective to "Popularise Grassroot Motorsports". Thus, lets not make it too administrative. I think 23ys old should not be an issue. We set the rules base on our objective.
The senario is: Once an individual join my-kart he/she already have to pay the full fee as a principal regardless of age. So, if any of these person immediate family wanted to join my-kart, its a bonus to us.
Btw, I only start working at the age of 24 after my degree
