f1 - 2007 season thread
prelude - ferrari's looking hot
Pre-season form indicates that Ferrari will be the top contender. McLaren also looking good.
What are the prospects of the 2007 championship? Who will be the Hero and who will be the Zero? Will it be an all Ferrari affair? Will McLaren's Alonso and Hamilton make it a two horse race? Where will Lewis Hamilton be by end year?

round 1 - aussie gp
Looks like Kimi & Ferrari are in good form for the 2007 championship challenge.
Melbourne qualifying sees Kimi on pole with Alonso second and Heidfeld third. Nice to see BMW up there.
see how to create tables... http://club.my-kart.org/node/625
awesome to see the super aguris so high and the honda's so low....
gonna be exciting tomorrow.

yeah... let's see if with rookies hamilton & kubica qualifying so high up the grid will translate into some 'interesting' 1st corner moments...!

»mikko:
Neither are exactly inexperienced at racing wheel-to-wheel at the front (particularly Hamilton) so I'm not expecting them to cause trouble. If anyone is to cause 'interesting' moments I'd put my money on Sato or Ralf.

Nothing against the man.. he just seems to have a narrower than average peripheral vision during F1 races.

well, no doubt kimi is the man!

well done kimi.
strong race by hamilton & rosberg. alonso shows his thinking side, and why he is two times champion... although hamilton's speed (and dennis' support) may start to worry him. that will be alonso's real test.
the bimmers look ok... still wished that they were higher up. not sure whether the heidfeld and kubica pairing is the best at the moment. bmw will need somebody with that extra spark.
massa - shame about the problems in qualifying. can't judge anything yet.
renault and kovalainen both a disappointment. and the less said about honda the better. but what was with DC's move? at least he is man even to admit culpability. webber... strong in qualifying, but where is he in the race?

like I told you guys, it'll be an Alonso/Hamilton year in 2007! And trust "Launchpad" DC to provide some excitement in the latter stages!
Disclaimer: The above comments reflect saa73's personal opinions, and not the corporation he works for...and Mikko, do you understand what Kimi says in post-race interviews??? I know a few Finns (family friends and at work) and they speak perfect English...what's up with this Kimi dude??

kimi is a great character off the track. not your corporate type. but at post race PCs he is odd. but great fun anyway.
but damn, is he fast.

In real life, kimi only knows how to party. Come on guys, the first two rounds of championship are only part of the testing ground & reliabitity. The real battle will be in europe!

only knows how to party? whoa. a bit harsh there aren't we? the guy's an excellent racer. a little over the edge, but still damn fast. but you are right about melbourne and sepang being an extended winter test... the real form book will be revealed in europe.

kimi was not only fast but also consistant la bro..
watched the live telecast at channel 82 and keep one eye on the F1 website, monitoring the live timing from start till ends... was so cool
you guys should check this website out during the next race, you would feel as if you're there

should watch the rtm2 telecast instead, its from the itvf1 commentary. they are actually commenting from the trackside. i dont even tune to starsports anymore, its just narrating what we see on tv rather than behind the scene info like how itv does it. they have reporters running around the pit lane, so u will know whats happening there as well, such as problem in raikonnens car.
itv was saying kimi is kinda an over the edge guy when he is off track, quite outspoken actually when he is in the mood.

yeah ... watched the rtm2 telecast too coz apart from the inside view ... the starsport telecast is a bit delayed for some reason ...

Yeah even I have to turn up the volume when Kimi speaks - his voice in Finnish is a bit odd as well. Wait for Kovalainen to get into the press conference - he'll be very much unlike Kimi.
And has been for at least a decade. I don't know the reason but I think all live shows on satellite channels (not local free-to-air) are delayed by a few minutes - maybe to do with being able to censor out unwanted material if need be? __________________________

Delayed by few minutes means cheaper slot to reduce the cost. Its normal for satelite company to buy 30sec-5mins delayed. Thats how they gain profits.

And...they get to censor the "nasty" bits out..so that us poor Malaysians are protected from foreign influences that may corrupt the mind and cause some of us to run amok and maybe even do dangerous things like drive fast and turning our karts turtle!...

Then for the Astro programming every single "live" event I've checked does this. For example the World Cup matches were delayed by a good 30 seconds+. I don't see why spend all the money to buy all the games and dedicate several channels and then not show them live. __________________________

I would like to share this article on Kimi's recent race in Australia...
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen has revealed just what it means to drive an entire Grand Prix without any team radio contact. Raikkonen’s lights-to-flag victory in Melbourne may have looked straightforward, but it seems the communications issues brought with them their own unique challenges.
To stay informed, the Finnish driver relied on regular pit-board updates but, unable to talk with his race engineer Chris Dyer, Raikkonen’s afternoon was a solitary one. With no one on the other end of the radio pushing him, he admitted he experienced several lapses of concentration during the 58-lap Grand Prix.
“On one occasion - just about ten laps before the end the race - I almost fell asleep!†the Finn told Ferrari's official website. “I got distracted, my concentration levels dropped a bit and I locked the wheels and took turn number 3 slightly too wide: even without radio I knew that they were saying: 'Kimi, wake up!’â€
And although he ended the race as easily the fastest driver, with a best lap of 1m 25.235s, Raikkonen also divulged that without the communication difficulties he may well have been tempted to go even quicker. The Finn’s revelation will undoubtedly worry the competition, who were all over a second slower than the Ferrari driver’s F2007.
Any comments guys?
(this should be interesting...)

the thing is kimi is so freakishly fast. i hope he sleeps at the wheel a lot more. oh i wish the bmw drivers are a little more fired up. i wish jacques was still with the team.

if we can get TM to also sponsor the BMW team, expresso comes compliments from the management... that'll help fire 'em up...!!! XD

lol. yeah, the espresso would perk them up. but they'd have to do a lot more to match kimi. even without his johnnie walker, kimi is incredibly perky in the car.

To whom it may concern
.. not sure you heard bout this or not, Michael Schumacher is to have a section of the famous Nurburgring circuit named after him ahead of this year’s German Grand Prix. Schumacher won at the track five times during his illustrious Formula One career.
The ‘Schumacher S’ (formerly the ‘Audi S’) is a fast left-right section midway around the Nurburgring lap. The seven-time world champion will get another chance to sample the corner when he completes a special lap of honour before the 2007 German Grand Prix on July 22.
... he has retired, but not forgotten!!

it would be interesting if he completes his lap of honour faster than the polesitter. lol.

Imagine having dinner with Kimi and yeah, he mumble mumble mumble throughout dinner and everybody ended up straining their ears and watching his mouth to make out what he was saying.. and that's doubly hard when he's chewing food at the same time!He should get a strategic PR cum speech consultant..
