New website and FORUM.... post and win prizes!
Hi Guys,
I've started a new website KartingAsia.com and just launched it about 1 minute ago! This is the first place I've announced it and will now send out my kartingmalaysia.com newsletter and announce it on katingmalaysia.com. So as you can imagine the forums are now just full of posts by me waiting for people to reply
The website will have karting news and I hope that we'll get a really active karting discussion forum going as well! The forum has some country-specific forums including Malaysia of course and a General Karting forum, tech talk and driving techniques, a classifieds section, and a fair bit more.
To celebrate the launch of the website we have PRIZES TO GIVE AWAY!
Right now the only prize that has been announced is supplied by Swiss Hutless Asia Pacific which is a day of driving a Rotax-powered Swiss Hutless chassis with instruction (from me).
Trust me though there will be more prizes announced really soon... some that particularly my-karters will find cool.
The prizes are drawn randomly among all posters that have amassed at least 5 posts on the forum, and the more you post the more your chances of winning increase - for every 10 posts you get one additional entry in the prize draws!
So sign up and start posting. A good place to start is to introduce yourself in the introductions thread in the General Karting Talk category.
Head on over to Karting Asia or directly to the Karting Forums
Also let me know if you have any improvement suggestions!

No problems to report so far! I've registered OK (using IE) and posted using both IE and Firefox on 2 different notebooks.

Thanks for all the debugging work
Fazz - could you sign up and post a thread in the Malaysia Karting Talk section and explain what My-Kart is all about?

Thanks to everyone that has signed up on the forums!
There are now more prizes to be won! City Karting has generously provided 25 80cc rental kart sessions to be given out. They're given in sets of 5, so 5 winners in Total.
I'm sure if some my karters win they can try to negotiate 2 100cc sessions instead of 80cc for example! Or for kart owners you could probably get 2 free track rental fees.
No confirmation on that though it depends on City Karting

Hi Fazz
I noticed that you posted "dot org" and made it into a url before I saw your post here.
- I think there is a system in place that prevents posting urls in your first post and maybe first day as a registered member - to prevent spam. I'll get rid of it now though because there's been no probs with spam sign-ups even.

thanks. be careful with removing the spam controller. i have had experience with PHPBB and it tends to be vulnerable to spammers.... hence, i migrated to drupal for sites such as this.

I've added a few other mods to reduce spam as well - no bot signups yet but that could all change once the pages are indexed properly in search engines. Will be interesting to see how well phpbb3 handles spam.
I did remove the mod that prevented users from posting urls because it didn't seem to want to work as "0 days and 1 post" being the requirement to post urls - I think 0 days was still 1 day.
I have no authorization required for registration at the moment which is a definite no-no if you want to avoid spam but I want it to be very quick to start posting now that the forum is new, and can add authorization requirements later.
