phew!
my round 07 on 07/07/07 was one of the best events i've had in a long time... this is more because i tended to end up in the coca-cola cup this year.
i had a good qualifying for a change.
i was happy with the first qualifying as i managed to make up a lot of positions at the start from 5th to 2nd and managed to hold that position to the end. couldn't do much about the flying isk m7 at that point.
qualifying 2 was not as good as 1, but still ok nevertheless. I managed to stay within reach of the leaders but the gap was fairly consistent. had a wheel to wheel bumping competition with ashraff. it was all fair though.
so the finals was the most fun. starting from mid grid once again, i manage to have a fantastic start to lead by the end of the 1st lap. i was quite comfortable in the lead although i noticed that other drivers were hounding me soon after. once again, it was a bit of rough race as i was once hit by yusnee under braking and then went wheel to wheel (again) with ashraff (sparring buddy), and had a big bump with Nizer on the long straight. had to apologise later to nizer as i had not expected him to go through as i tried to squeeze him out.
at the end a little frustrated that i could not hold muhaymin as we drag raced to the finish line... muhaymin pipped me by 1 foot i think.
still... a top 5 finish after a long time off the leaderboard was a pleasure.

Just like Fazz, my round 07 on 07/07/07 was one of the best events i've had (since I joined in Round 4).
1st qualifying I was at the back of the grid (P9) and had a reasonable performing kart (#23) which had lots of top end but lacked low and mid range, so I had to be foot heavy and keep the top end there all the time! I managed to finish in 5th place which was really encouraging for me since I normally assume the last position!
2nd qualifying was quite disppointing. I was running Kart #3 which was the Yamaha engine not the PRD. Unfortunately it was running poorly and stalled 3 times during the formation and 3 or 4 times during the race. So I lost my advantage of starting the race from P2 and ended up finishing in 8th place. I think Wei Li was having a worse day than me and I also saw Ramsey walking off the track... unfortunate for them but fortunate for me under the circumstances!
For the group B Final, I was again starting at the back of the grid (P9) and had a great race and managed to finish in 2nd place. The kart was in good order and I was really trying to battle my way to catch up with Khairul Hizam who was leading, sadly to no avail.

Rubbish was what happened! that stupid No. 4 kart, that explains why people run away from no. 4! It just spluttered and die on the formation lap twice and had to rev up the engine to catch the group approaching the start line. I had to do a kamikaze weaving and darting to seek the P1 position which I was suppose to start on.....not that it really matters in the end.
To make my nightmare (or was it daymare) worse was the sight of that Vietcong guy breezing pass me. Before long I was running last but when I saw Ashraf standing by his motionless kart....my moustache twitch into a smile....hee hee hee! (thanks dude !)
....but as consolation, just manage to get into final A by the skin of the teeth. Boy, its really getting tougher to cari makan.

First of all, I would like to apologise to everyone from K2 Final B for causing the false start. This is my sprint race in 2007 and I am a bit rusty with the starting procedures.
1st qualiying heat - the infamous kart no. 5. Understeer on entry, oversteer whenever you are not going straight, brake works but causes oversteer too.
2nd qualifying heat - had to pull into the pits just before the start because the clutch would not engage. Jump into kart no. 2, sped off but found the kart had no brakes. Decided to stay out and cruise to the finish line as I was already 2 laps down anyway.
Final B - they fixed the brakes on kart no. 2 so I took it out again. This was the first time of the day I drove a kart that worked properly until I found out there was a big problem located somewhere between the steering wheel and engine......So I drove defensively, made the kart very wide.......I think I caused a minor traffic jam for about 1 1/2 laps. On the 2nd lap I misjudged the speed going into the big right hand sweeper and went gardening, thereafter became a lonely karter.

Well, it turns out that 7 is NOT my lucky number judging by the below par performance from yours truly! Nevertheless, I had plenty of fun and best of all, enjoyed a surprise birthday bash at the end of a lacklustre race event!
It was a funny case of getting karts, 5, 6, 7 in succession. Kart #5 (Heat 1) was soooo bad! There was no grip, no bottom end, top end, side end, and not much braking power either! I was left with playing the "survival" game and hoping that I stay alive long enough to finish the race, and get some positions through others' DNF's! True enough, there were some.
Can't remember which Kart I was balloted for round 2, but it just died right after turn 1, which left me no choice but to quickly adopt the "gallop of survival" back to the pits, where I picked up kart #6. Credit to kart#6, it was fast! Got power, grip, etc, but I was half a lap down and had to play catch up! I was bombing down the track like there was no tomorrow (which was pretty tiring, I must say), and all the while thinking.."I have to at least beat kart #5"!!..true enough, I did...forgot who was the poor bugger in kart 5...but he kindly waved me through like a gentleman hahaah
I chose the eventually winner Kart#7, but the difference is, the winner was Nizer, and I probably weigh twice as much as him! Due to the slow formation laps, which seemed to take forever, the kart was actually in danger of spluttering to a halt anytime, hence the reason why I went rather fast up front...all the while struggling to keep it alive. During the first flag off, Wei Li shot off at lightspeed to my surprise!! I was actually relieved that we went for a re-start, but again, struggled to keep the kart alive...but the start was good, and i managed to retain some position up front for at least 2 laps, until eventually my weight got the better of me and I was left at the lower end of the order with Pelumba Haram and Ramsey. I must say, I had a great time dog fighting with those two, and at some points, Pelumba Haram even turned around to taunt Ramsey, which was really funny..and at one point I nearly overtook Ramsey through a cunning inside move at the parabolic curve as he was engrossed with catching up with Shaeran..but alas, it was not to be. Passing Abg Razak Macam Macam Adaaa who lost his wheels at Turn 3 made us all crack up...I saw Ramsey shake in his kart!!...To sum it all....crappy results, maximum fun & entertainment!

Aaahhhh!!! That's the best part of the qualifying session!
To be able to beat the seasoned buaya not only once but twice on the same day since joining my-KART is a big consolation!
Race comments will be posted when I'm back at Vietnam later tonight.

Bollocks round for me hahaah.
CK Karting karts are geting reall badddd, had kart 23 for my first round, not a bad kart but it stalled half way after 4 laps or so. Suprisngly, when mark took that kart, it has no problems and never stalled
Second round was a bummer also. got kart no 8 , which in comparison, an 1.8 engine car trying to compete in the 2.0 category . hahahaa
Therefore, ended up in coca cola cup. took kart no 3, which is the normal yamaha engine.. hahha and just drive like normal and finish the race 3rd position.. and gained 1 miserable point for my championship. that is also because i almost lost my points to razak..luckily his tyre flew off in the last lap and i manage to grab my position back.
hehehhee. sorry ar razak,
Bummer and dissapointing round for me.

what's with CK's kart condition nowadays? it's getting worse and worse ... i know most of us only race for fun, but when the problem starts to bang in, it could simply take the fun away and bring in frustrations sometimes ... especially when you are being competitive
i understand the term "you want good kart, you buy your own la.." ... but it's not like we've only been racing for a few races ... we have been supporting them for years ... they should've known how to treat their regular customers ...

I agree whole heartedly with Bombe, but have struggled to say it because I'm still revelling in the misfortunes of others that allowed me to do quite well overall!!
But seriously, the karts should certainly have been in far better condition. Just look at the K2 Group B formation... I think we did about 5 formation laps whilst the numerous stalled or half dead karts were revived. Ramsey, Wei Li had major problems, Razak was literally bouncing along in front of me, Ashraff **stop to laugh for a minute** had to push his kart over the finishing line... that’s just to name a few incidents of poor karts. I also heard similar complaints about K3 karts too.
For the regular my-karters, it may be something that is “sort of accepted†or understood (said in very loose terms), but for newbies who are not in the know, it could in fact portray a bad image of My-Kart and not CK. I think this needs to be addressed with CK essentially to mitigate this risk
and ultimately make improvements in the quality of karts for the future.

What can we do about it then? They still never listen to us.
