).. i was wondering if u all can fill me in on other venues that provide nice tracks and karts...
it would be much appreciated if u could state where it is.. some opinion on the track and karts available for rent.. and approx prices too!!!

I prefer Elite track more to CK track, more technical and variety of topography.
Favourite of all tracks ---> Sepang karting track
For 100cc karts --> Raja Razman's
Bro Naza & Luen, when want to do the 100cc chicken wing run at Elite?
They still rent the 100cc karts to the privilege few like us?

We had good Chicken Wings on the 80cc... only problem is limited number of karts, so if we get a big group of, errr chicks???, then we need to divide into groups of 5. Apart from that, I give

would not mind a couple of rounds at elite... only thing is they do not have enough karts for a large group like ours. so for now, no "official" rounds at elite. we can have once off enduros etc.

I haven't tried many of the rental karts at the various tracks in a while but.....
For me using the citykarting 100cc karts which I do about once a year or so I actually like that the karts different.
You never quite know what the kart is going to be like so you and have to adapt your driving style to suit it.
The most evenly matched karts I ever tried was at an indoor rental place in Finland - the difference between the best and the worst kart was only ever about 3 tenths on fairly long lap. They were that way because they were meticulously maintained - the main thing was that you could hardly ever feel a difference in the handling of the different karts.
When the kart rental operators are lazy (like most are, and pretty much all places in Malaysia) the alignment is never checked and parts are only replaced when they break and cleaning of the karts is unheard of you get karts that are way off any kind of setup.

How I wish the rental karts are maintained the same way here. *sigh*
That's the typical scene here.

Tell them the problems, the usual answer are : ya kah? it is like that one, you all drive properly then we don't have these problems loh!
Or they pass the buck around and say "I don't handle these things"

mikko makes some great points here. whilst the current state of rental karting operations leaves a lot to be desired, is there anything that we can do to (together with the operators) to move towards the aspired situation in finland? this would go a long way towards the development of the karting scene in the country with a lot more professional organisations involved in the business.

I guess (Mikko correct me here if I'm wrong), but it also comes down to what is the customer willing to pay for the service? I'm sure in Finland or elsewhere in Europe that the cost is far greater than here in Malaysia. With higher revenue, the operator can afford to maintain to a higher standard. But, can an operator in Malaysia charge a higher fee to the customer and simultaneously achieve customer retention?

can we do a purchasing power parity comparison of karting costs in different countries? let's compare to (say) how many big macs it would take to run an 80cc 2-stroke for 10minutes.

I don't have much knowledge and experience in the business field but my opinion I think is sadly kart rental in Malaysia will never reach the standards as what mikko said about Finland! No offence Malaysians, but up till today we still see the "Tidak Apa" and "Cincai" attitude in everything here. Don't need lo look so far away at a place like Finland. Just observe our Singaporean neighbors. Perfectionist attitude hard to come by here.

i use to go go-karting in melb regularly... all da places i went had crappy fun karts(thats why i keep saying im impressed how u can easily rent proper 100cc gokarts)... and there is only one place that i know of in melb that provides 100cc.. and i can say whether u come from a developing or first world country.. maintain bares down to business operators... as i have said... even coming frmo a first world country like australia... karts are NOT well maintained at ALL frankly because this is how business operators maximise profits...
those who have their own karts will know how costly or time consuming it is to maintain a kart at tip top condition.... however... as mikko stated that there are tip top condition karts to rent in finland... all i have to say is "bravo" to that business owner.... who wants to maintain a high lvl of standard and customer expectations... maybe that place could be an academy for serious gokarters?? to be fair, there should be other things to ask before jumping in conclusion, which is, how long has the business been in business for? if it was recently open.. obviously all da karts are new.. therefore in perfect condition
etc etc ..also what is the target market?? serious gokarters? academy for driver training? or for family?
if ur business is catered just for family... im sure most in the general public wont have much to complain or critique etc etc therefore a dodgy cheapo fix up job is prob the most feasible way to go XD i classify ck at this market... as they trying to increase their turnover as much as possible.. as long as all 4 wheels move.. ."boleh la" hahahahhaa
the only other difference that i can see here.. is that when i rocked up to ck... all i did was pay.. and drive the 100cc... they didnt even inform us about the rules and safety regulations off and on track...
so thumbs up to my-kart for promoting safety issues during ur outings
@fazz sorry for being so negative.. but i fink our chances of getting together and raising their standards of operation are pretty slim... there isnt a governing body that controls and regulate industry standards in this particular industry i fink.. so please correct me if i am wrong
