DRIVERS Series Volunteers
As most of you are well aware, my-kart introduced the K1 series for teh first time in Round 1 2008. As such, it was quite a learning curve for all the committee and volunteers to incorporate this race into a tight schedule for the day.
Based on feedback from the committee, volunteers and participants, we are currently in the process of streamlining the management and organisation of the K1, K2 and K3 events and looking to achieve a faster turn around time between races. This will mean we require a lot more dedicated volunteers.
It is the intention that participants from each group become responsible for assisting in organising their events.
I have had a private discussion with some K2 drivers and they have agreed to volunteer their services for the 2008 season. We would also like to see more involvement in particular from the K3 group, especially when it comes to arranging the karts for the grid formation. By volunteering to help the organisation you will benefit from gaining experience and exposure in race management and become part of the team and not just a driver! I hope you won’t be shy and will come forward….
For ease of operations, we propose to assign volunteers to a specific group i.e. Group A, Heat 1 and 2 etc. In the event that a volunteer cannot assist due to participation in that particular group then the volunteer would be responsible for finding a suitable replacement. Adopting this methodology will ensure continuity of support to each race.
The ‘volunteers’ who have confirmed their participation is as follows:

Mark,
I think it will help if we can expand a bit on what are the main tasks involved for volunteers to consider,.....just the main ones.
In K1, the organisers will do the following:
1.Weigh and record all drivers weight (announce required ballast weights to all drivers)
2.Scrutinise and ensure that the correct ballasts have been installed to their respective karts.
3.Inform all drivers of their groups, to be ready and seated for each race in advance.
4.Ensure that every driver know their starting grid position.
5.Start and end the race (watch jump starts - placed last as penalty)
6.Record race position lap by lap - using lap chart provided.
7.Scrutinise that the ballasts are intact after the race( placed last if ballasts is found less as penalty)
8.Record any damage(s).

Yep, agreed Naza, this will give the volunteers some insight as to the expectations of them.
For K2 and K3 as follows:-
Check kart availability (what karts citykart has in working condition)
Kart allocation / assignment (which will be used for race and kept for spare)
Grid Formation (lining karts at grid)
Driver Notification (announcing drivers in their respective groups)
Formation Laps (control and signal to drivers to group / bunch up)
Start race (flag signals and watch jump starts)
Lap Charts (record drivers lap positions)
Safety (yellow and red flag signalling)
Administration (collating and submission of documentation to race secretariat)
the above list is not exhaustive, but gives a general indication of the expecations. For first time volunteers, support will be given by the team leaders. We do encourage those who particiapte regularly in my-kart events to demonstrate interest as a volunteer.

Comment:
Maybe what the 4 of us can do is to cooperate during all the heats. For example if I am being selected for Group A and Julian is selected for Group B, then maybe we can switch places. This will mean that I will be Group B organizer for the day, and Julian will be Group A organizer for the day. This will not create crash situation where the organizers are running and organizing the same group. I hope you know what I meant.

Guys, I need a volunteer to help me with the merchandising especially when I’m on the track. I have also noticed most of the members didn’t know they could purchase the merchandise even if they are not a paid member yet
. All collection will go into my-kart account to enhance our event for betterment.
Any ladies perhaps?? u can make use of your charms..
Task: (very simple)
.. shirt, badge , etc ( we’ll have more item soon).
1. Help me to sell my-kart merchandise
2. Assist interested member to check available size for the shirt (mostly).
3. Collect and record payment.
4. Safe guard and ensure member pay for item they have purchase.
