this round, many of the problems at round 1 was solved. good job guys! can see improvement on accidents; not as many as round 1. a few spins is as usual. the kart that i was given, was all alright. overall is a good race. some newbies on the management side like me and some other ppl who helped out; was a little confuse during their duties. but after the 1st heat, everything was cleared out and no problem with the management then.

still, during formation lap at the final A, there are still drivers that do not follow the person in front of him. the person in front of me, he is moving sometimes behind me, sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right. this is really confusing me on where or what will he do next on the formation lap. and he is an old-timer, he should be really experience with the formation lap already.

and; what's with the overtaking during formation lap. i saw 2 drivers overtaking during the formation lap; making them at the first row of the grid. ain't they suppose to be at their position? even though the kart in front of you is slow, you still have to maintain at your grid position. if its unavoidable, just be beside the driver in front. don't go overtaking everyone and be in the front. this scenario has confuse the marshal and eventually the marshal started the race where the 2 drivers which were suppose to be at the back of the grid, is now 1st and 2nd. it's not jump start.. it's SUPER JUMP START. they should be penalize if they do such things again.

well, at the moment, i reckon that is what i can think of. too tired after a whole day activities.

Bro,
First, well done for finishing on the podium within a couple of races.....so early oledi buaya arr!.... Thumbs up

In rolling start procedures, jump start is an UNFORGIVEABLE SIN!.....and we need to tighten this up. No disrespect to hardworking volunteers, whoever is holding the green flag will need to know what to watch for.

We need to brief all drivers and start volunteers exactly the rules governing rolling starts. I am quite sure many do not even understand the significance of the 2 red cones spaced 25 meters apart....other than its there to split the convoy into 2 rows.

We will need to prepare the rules governing rolling starts and brief our volunteer marshalls first.

i think we need to start a separate thread on race marshaling. will need to have a set of briefs for the grid and start-finish volunteers. happy to get comments from respective category owners.

jac,

if i am not wrong, the race will continue if the kart is stalled on green flag. if the kart if stalled before the green flag, then maybe the marshal will wait for you.

someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Here's my report for Round 2.

It was a tired day as I was part of the photography crew, the K2 volunteer group and racing at the same time. It was a record for me that I only taken less than 200 photos this time.

Heat 1
Started at the front row with Uncle Razak again on kart #26. And again me and Uncle Razak talked about how we should give enough space for both of us in the 1st and 2nd corner. The race started and both of us maintain our position all the way to the end. Uncle Razak was 1st and I was 2nd. When we came back into the pit, I was told that Uncle Razak was penalized because he was using a kart which was banned. I was happy with my 2nd position anyway so I left the decision to Uncle Razak whether he is ok with giving up his 1st place. Decision made and I was given the 1st place. Full point to me.

Heat 2
I was given kart #28 at the start and was told that it needs a long time to actually get the kart running. Maybe it was my weight that the kart did not even manage to get the power coming. So I came back in and change my kart to #14. I was a good kart with good mid range and top end but the brakes wasn't working very well. I started from 9nd place; at the very end of the pack with Uncle Razak. At the start, I couldn't really brake and slow down my kart at the 1st corner and basically had wheel to wheel contact with judgejulez and another driver. This cause my kart to spin and lost some time. Lucky the engine did not stall. After I continue with the race, I realize that I wasn't really being left behind that much. So I pushed real hard and gave chase. After a lap or so, if I am not mistaken, Jac and someone else had an accident and spun off. Yeehaa! This moved me up to 7th place instantly. Slowly I was overtaking many drivers.. not sure how already and was in 3rd place. Maintain that position for the rest of the laps. Good heat and an exciting one! Learning all the different overtaking opportunities during CCW. Yeeaaa!

Final
As for final, I started at way back of the pack but got to choose the kart first. Highest points for the 1st time in my 1st season of K2. Chose kart #22. It was a good kart. The final was very intense till I actually forgot on how I manage to climb 6 places and won the race in 3rd placing.

Overall, I would say luck is on my side (still). And hope this luck continues for the rest of the season. Or is it, my experience has grew?

yeah, i noticed this edwyn. thanks to you for the great effort. nevertheless, i think we need other people to help out on the management side for K2. i know what it is like to multi-task.

anyway, congrats to a strong outing from you and to Razak for winning the race.

Firstly, thanks for the compliment Fazz. If I am not mistaken, Uncle Razak was driving kart #13. And kart #13 basically runs on a different engine. Forgotten what engine it was, but I think it was a Yamaha Engine.

»

Jules:

Edwyn,

wow, a yamaha engine is square in shape and a Prd ( which is what u all use ) is roundish.....kinda hard to not notice this even for the driver himself.

btw, a yamaha has 16hp and prd has MORE......so I dunno if he did win on that yamaha.

On starts - if the starter waves green and u stall once u left the pits....too bad. Since this is fun racing, the starter may give u one more lap but that's his call and not a rule. So dun blame the starter.

I did notice u were also part of the PAPARAZI gang shooting pictures - thanks for effort.

Jac,

Not sure if this is the best place to say this but I think you should learn to relax and perhaps your racing will improve.....I am however very sure you be a happier person at end of race day when u do.

Above advice given after seeing ur reaction on Q2 incident...We can speak about it more in depth next time we meet.

cheers.

wahahaha.. guess it's not yamaha then; since it has less hp Sticking out tongue to be really honest, i don't even know what engine it was. all i know is that i was promoted to 1st place Sticking out tongue

urm.. were this referring to me jules? as i recall; i didn't complain about this Puzzled and i didn't stalled any engine in this rd. probably its my grammar mistakes in the report Sticking out tongue

Q1:
Starting grid 5th (Kart#29). Due to the clutch problem I not even can do the formation lap properly because it keep biting the kart, change to kart#14.
Start from the pit, instead of start on grid 5 I start as a last kart. Right on the apex before start/finish line my kart stalled and green flag down… “Oh my god~~~” Kart restart and everybody is gone… Plan to have Sunday drive, hahaha… Surprisingly, I keep see other driver appear infront of me, so I keep overtaking up to 5th place on lap 7. On last lap I manage to tail “silently” behind Julian and Ashih who having dogfight… At second last corner exit Julian and Ashih almost have contact cause Julian oversteer and I snap into inside line and claim the 4th place, Ashih is running wide on last corner exit he almost spun but he steadily got the kart back to track and I settled with 4th place. Kekez… fun race, happy with the result because I still have 50% chance into Final A.
Result: 4th/8th

Q2:
Starting grid 4th (Kart#31). Actual starting grid on front row due to 1st row kart having problem (compensation ? haha…) have great fun with Julian, his kart brake got problem and my kart under power (he did help me a little on straight with little bump, thank you sir! Hahaha…) we keep overtake each other on many corners. Few laps gone another driver catch up with us. I understand my kart will not keep me at 1st place, podium finish will happy enough. Somehow on the short straight after the chicane I feel a heavy nudge from behind but it still under control, but… when come to turn in point another NUDGE from behind again and my kart turn 180 degree. My kart engine not yet died but the clutch kick in and dun let go at all… then I saw Julian leading the rest left me, another driver and his front bumper on the floor there… take about 40 sec to get my kart running and another driver is still waiting for technician to rescue, finish 7th with bad luck… and I think marshal being confuse our position and lap chart show 8th, anyway it dun make any difference.
Result: 7th /8th (8th/8th)

Final B:
Starting grid 4th (Kart#22). Not much kart to pick, so I pick a kart which suit my height, yeah~~ green flag down in front pack with Faibs and others. Few laps later I try to avoid Faibs oversteer and went to cut some grass, drop from 2nd to 4th the pack is dismiss so I overtake 1 by 1, without the traffic problem I pull away till the end with some ribs pain due to Q2. Great fun with Faibs~
Result: 1st/8th

Note: Exchange infor with others karters and realise the cloudy weather really affect the grid level and sitting position does matter.

Yaa-Haa! 1st win ever altho in Final B~~

heheh. q1 was damn fun. got a good kart for once. overjudged my speed on the last turn so ran wide onto the grass. sorry to all those near the lap board. now just need to find a way to quickly lose all my natural "ballast".
