KKS 2008 Championship
Dear Members,
I have been toying with the idea together with Brother Naza on joining this year's KKS Club Championship, in particular the 125 Open Category.
As some of our members are already having 125s, this is a good way to break into a bit more serious racing...ie. Club races. In addition, if we have sufficient numbers, I am sure we can field in our race entries under the MyKart Racing Team banner.
No, I am not asking for sponsorship but rather giving an additional avenue for MyKart to be exposed. I am sure there will be many willing helpers, team managers and this is all I am requesting. If you want to put banners, fine.
Anyhow - I thot this will be a good experience for some i.e. racing and non racing.
For those thinking of racing in the 125 open class, here are the details in brief.
- You need to be a KKS member, I think this cost RM200 for the year.
- You also need a AAM race license which requires a simple medical check. All can be done in one day....and cost total around Rm250 also for the year.
- One set of controlled MRF tyres cost Rm250 per set for KKS member. One set needed for race day only.
- If the heavens open open up, wets will be needed and this cost also RM250. This one can keep if used little for future races.
- For begineers, even me - expert mechanic help needed and this is where if we have 4 drivers, we can share 2 mechanics or so. Cost can also be shared and with MyKart members helping/learning, this is possible. I do a bit spannering myself too but simple ones lar.
- This is a 5 round event and the 1st race starts 27th April. All are ONE day race events, all in SEPANG.
So the grand total per race Sunday is likely about RM1000-1200 per event plus minus here and there ( and this is a conservative estimate cos its possible below 1 K ), and also depending on the mechanic arrangements. Less if we share mechanics and get MyKart volunteers. Of course, this is based on situation you provide your own fully raceable 125 kart and most of you have.
Please think about it and for those keen to read more regulation, pls email me your addresses.
Thanks.
Bro Naza - can I count that Tamizi is racing? Mumu, Mark, Fazz, Luen, Edwin, Che Mat, who esle??? Its 2008, do SOMETHING for your racing....and yes, MyKart must surely go into sactioned racing and this is the stepping stone for any grassroot racer.
Cheers,
Jules

Jules,
Assuming Tarmizi has yet to read this post, I can assume that he would be interested to drive and me assuming his manager's role as it was for previous races.
I will get his KKS membership renewed if its already expired and medical for race licence.
It would be another very visible branding step forward for my-kart if we can add Mumu / Fazz / Edwyn / Zainy / Luen / Mark to represent the my-kart Racing Team. To reduce costs, perhaps get 3 drivers in alternate rounds.
Others also can rent the arrive and drive packaged karts form CK or SH. It should be possible to nego with CK to plonk in a Max senior 125 engine into our K1 CRG karts and race.
One off costs:
KKS Membership : 200
AAM / MAM race licence : 250
Medical check : 200
Total : 750.00
Racing Costs:
MRF dry tyres : 2 sets at @ RM 350 (1 set - Sat practice @ set up/ 1 set - Sunday Race)
Wet tyres : 1 set
Mechanic support : 500
Transponder : 50
Track fee : 70
Total : 1670.00 (estimate as above may change a bit)
Jules, please comment if any.

Some corrections :
One off costs:
KKS Membership : 200
AAM / MAM race licence : 250
Medical check : not 200, but RM 60 only
Total : 510.00
Racing Costs:
MRF dry tyres : 2 sets at @ RM 250 ( not 350 )(1 set - Sat practice @ set up/ 1 set - Sunday Race)
Wet tyres : 1 set ( optional but only RM250/set )
Mechanic support : 500 NEGOTIABLE
Transponder : 30 only....
Track fee : 70, no need but got entry fee of RM250 each race
Total : 1530.00 MAX (estimate as above may change a bit)
If no rain, deduct RM250, If no Sat Pratice on NEW tyres....deduct another RM250...so we are almost RM1000!
If share mechanic.....cheaper somemore lor!!!
So any takers?

I'm thinking to get a kart too (it won't be too long before CK have a Ferrari the way things are going). I wasn't planning to do so right away, but I notice a few others considering too.
If we can get a better price with a bulk purchase, let me know and I'll change my plans.
KKS 2009 maybe but I'm no were near ready for that yet.
Have a great round 4 tomorrow, see you at round 5

Edw bro, just get the license when you really wanna race because if I am not mistaken the license is per calendar year it means your license will expired by end of year, correct me if I am wrong sifu Jules!. Because last time when I race motorbike, licensing is base on per calendar year and it also govern under AAM.

Edwyn,
Yes better dont do your license yet. Because the license expires on calendar year. so even you do it on november it expires the very next month. and they will charge you a year's subcription. Happen to us for our MME license.
Do when u are ready to race..

Seems some are confused.
The KKS Membership & AAM Race License is valid from the day you get the license/membership till 31st Dec 2008. ( or year's end )
So if you want to do one race only...or two - rugi lor if compared to if you race five....on per race basis cost ok.
In addition, I would strongly suggest you do all the licensing and membership NOW cos no matter what, its surely a damm rush job at the end and imagine, you are all ready and no AAM license to allow u to play....
Naza, is Tarmizi coming this round? What about YOU?
Mumu, I have a ROK which on paper & in real, has less power. Since I ( we ) am/are joining an open engine 125 class, I need a Max dan lain lain ( ie. Leopard, Sonik )Would be good to see you there with me.
Mark, Luen - wanna play???
Fazz, sure thing - why we cannot place our buntings? CK hangs all their TonyKart / Kosmic banners as well in RMC so I dun think the club can stop.....handing our literature on My-Kart is also possible.
Cheers,
Jules

I don't really mind if I only race once or twice, I reckon its all about gaining experience from a different kind of racing environment.

I believe those dates above are meant for KKS/RMC Championship. We are now talking about the "KKS club championship" which is a close championship only to KKS club members.

Ok. Then what is the dates for all the rounds?
