Where to buy Helmet?

After 2 races, I think it's time to invest on a personal helmet. Would very appreciate if anyone to advise where I can purchase the helmet.

Thanks

Citykart sell SOL motorbike helmets for approx RM350 or you can try Pertama Complex for a wider selection and price range.

If you are setting your sights higher, you can get an Arai / OMP helmet, but for a far higher price tag... Rosedie Autosports sell OMP and if I remember correctly CK also had some for sale.

it really depends on whether you want to get yourself a bike helmet, or a kart racing helmet where in the future you can join races in the rest of the whole...

Ok let's see Edwyn Buaya Embarassed is correct. You have to decide if you wan't a driving helmet or a riding one. If your budget is tight then I think a SOL is your answer. Err... I'm not sure about the price but I can probably get it for you at about RM250 to RM300. I got my Arai replica (pirate!) in Indonesia for about RM65 lol!!! As for Pertama Complex I think that bike stores which I will not name there are selling quite costly even compared to Singapore (That is if you can get through the blood thirsty Malaysian Customs Sticking out tongue ). Plus the SOL iridium or smoked visors are easily available a very low price. I got my white colour SOL without the free t-shirt and I didn't care as I have too much ballast to fit in it Embarassed . There are other designs too so if you have any questions just call me 012-3198646, Cheers Smiling

You can't get helmet through Bombe now.. Something regarding with the AP. He can help you get whatever gears you need, but just not the helmet.

Thumbs down

Dear Michael just go to the bike supplier shops behind Sentul police station and choose there. A shop by the name Yulite is recommended. Im sure you still don't have a suit yet so better to budget. After all it's just a helmet. Unless you really want an expensive, FIA approved, DOT, Driver Replica, then by all means spend the cash brother. After that sure damn gaya one. Eye

Depending on how deep is your pocket, SOL helmets will be a good starting reference.

Jules:

Car racing use need NOMEX lined helmets - easily verified when the helmet stap is pale yellow in colour.

Not aware there is any local brand for this.

A good & popular helmet for car racing use ( ie. nomex lined ) is the HJC from Korea.....

OMP, Sparco, Bell, Simspon, Arai are other possibilities.

Rosedi are out of stock of the OMP kart helmets until end of June (unless your head is big sized, they have some large ones in stock in the under 1k category).
Not sure about the Nomex variants (I didn't ask as I really don't want to know how much they cost!)

Regards

Chris

I should clarify that HJC are popular in USA. I also meant to say the word STRAP for the pale yellow thingy....

Btw, Arai are popular in Malaysia as we are so consious of branding and want to be F1 drivers! Dunno if anyone have a Schubert F1 model yet but that will not be cheap.

On OMP - Rosedi wun keep stock and will order for u, so time is needed. Those wishing to do MME must order now to avoid the risk of not in compliance. OMP helmets are good, lite and reasonably priced plus I use one along with a few BUAYAS in My-Kart....

Haha! Boleh Bang Ajak tapi kena suruh saudara gue utk beli dan bawa ke Malaysia during MotoGp. Agak Agak bulan 10 lah. Smiling

Anyway guys I just came back from Singapore. Went to visit the preparation of the upcoming F1 race track. Damn cun wei! Was actually standing on what I presume will be an apex of a corner that I'm not sure of so I decided to lie down with my head on the apex while my girlfriend took photos. Hahaha, some workers nearby noticed and I guess they would have thought that I ni orang gila Sticking out tongue. I was at the corner near the huge ferris wheel that was an area not part of their normal streets. As for the tarmac on the normal road section I'd say that it's quite good coz we all know that Singapore has got better roads than "Ahem" here Sticking out tongue. Found a place called Alliance Auto and their the Authorised Distributor distributing OMP's racing , tuning and karting products and accessories.
Honestly it's a lot cheaper there but if you wanna get a helmet you've got to take the risk. I crossed the Malaysian Customs today at the second link and they didn't even bothered to check my vehicle as I drove through with my 10 cent face Cool.

Actually I don't think they give a damn unless you carry maybe 10 boxes or more of unwrap helmets in your boot.

I used to have 2 or 3 helmets in my Pajero passing thru either Causeway or 2nd link, no problem.

Put it this way, are they going to tax the brand new helmet that you are wearing if you are riding your bike thru the customs?

Ok, I see u just volunteered to be a cross border runner....with ur pajero.

Abt riding a bike thru - well, first if you plan to sell it, then no buyer wants a used helmet ( even once ) and it's rather strange to have someone wearing a WHITE car racing helmet when u r riding a bike. That's a sure give away cos bike helmets.....are full of graphics.

How cheaper doesn't matter to me coz I'm traveling there every month on company expenses. Put it this way lah, I-phone 8GB is around RM2000++ here in Malaysia. I can get it there at about RM1450 so go figure why it cost so much here lolz!!!! Sabar Aje.
