FAibS:

Anyway, quick report here... q1. as soon as i exited the pitlane to start my warm up lap, immediately my chain came off... so i changed to another kart.. while trying to warm up my tyres, i found that the kart was misfiring and choking everytime at mid corner.. a few corners later my engine stalled.. thanks to khairul for giving me a push back to the pits and yet again, another change of kart... resumed my warm up lap but found myself constantly spinning due to a loose steering rack.. having not enuff time to change another kart i proceeded with the qualifying... within the 2nd or 3rd lap my whole steering column completely broke off due to rust developing at the joints (near the fuel tank), luckily no1 was near me cause my kart spun out quite violently. this officially ended my q1... q2 was going quite good, running 3rd until on the 3rd last corner on the last lap, my chain came off at the entry of the corner which has as a miny speed bump hahahah this again effectively lost me any chance for me to even qualify for group a.... final race was nothing to rave about.. had very good fights with jules at all corners exchanging the lead from time to time until about lap 5 when he was starting to run out of petrol .. i started to build my gap then decreased my pace in the closing stages to avoid any mishaps XD... basically won race b by default which is disappointing.. if not for jules' problem, i think then ending could have gone either way....all in all a day to forget, also must say it was the most tiring and frustrating race ever but i still enjoyed myself Eye... i think ck has alot of maintenance work to do.. conditions on 100cc has just been appauling this season... my whole season i was experiencing kart problems, i think it is also fair to say that out of all groups k3, k2 and k1, k2 group has the worse reliability record and also differences between some karts are just worlds apart XD... i fink alot of ppls races has been blighted with ongoing technical problems too. they really ought to take some time and effort to check all karts the night b4 the event is on, like refueling, CHECKING the damn chain and visual checks on general condition of the kart for eg frame, tyres or whats soever cause today some of us spotted on a kart that the front right tyre were flat spotted to a point that u could even see the wire belt.

First qualifier:
Had a great start and made 1st at the first corner. Unfortunately everybody was taking the sweeping left turn 3 by the time my kart decided to pick up and move slightly faster than a person with two broken legs into turn 2. I checked I had not accidentally got into an 80cc by mistake and tried to make the best of a hopeless situation. I didn't expect to do brilliantly as this was 1st time reverse in 100cc and I needed to find the braking points. Unfortunately I didn't really need to use the brakes.
A slight grin came over my face when I passed Faibs after his steering broke, bad luck Faibs.

Second qualifier:
This time I had torque but no top speed, and I was really suffering with the heat and couldn't grip too well either. I managed to stay ahead of 5th. Yet again satan broke wind in Faibs's face dealing him a snapped chain and an me his 3rd position just before the final corner of the final lap.

Final:
The Judge wouldn't budge until he started to run out of fuel. I managed to keep sight of Faibs and Jules battling for 1st, and then begin closing in towards the end, this time Jules had the bad luck and I grabbed 2nd place when his kart bogged down due to fuel problems on the second to last corner of the last lap.

It was a very tough and tiring morning where I wasn't feeling 100% but there was a balance of fun too.

Agree with Faibs on the kart conditions for K2 and K3 was delayed a few times due to tyres having no air in them, which is a bit dangerous.

Overall I had great fun. Was a tiring race as I was not in 100% condition. Still under medication that day. But nevertheless, great event. Somehow it does have a few incident with the karts not in their top condition.

Tires were checked, seats were checked, brakes were checked.. but chains, and the rest, nothing we can do. Eventually before every event, Naza, Luen and Me, has been to the track to check how are the karts. So I would say, we have done our best to keep the karts in the best condition. But please ALWAYS bear in mind, these are all rental karts. It was at the best condition when we were there. And when we left, there are still people waiting for their turn to thrash those karts.

You said it Edwyn!..these are rental karts!..how many times have we watched a group of guys renting 100cc karts stopped by the tyre walls!

....lets discuss this in another thread.

Hello Edwin,

We're not critical of the Club for the condition of the karts, far from it in fact.

What we're saying is that the very basic safety checks don't seem to be carried out thoroughly when we're presented with the karts in the morning. That's not our responsibility but it could be an initiative to mention in the safety briefing that drivers check there is air in the tyres, the brakes are working and that the steering feels secure, and the kart travels in a straight line, basically that should start when the proceeding group start their race, and gives 10 minutes or so to sort any problem. We could then black list and document the dodgy karts so that CK know what's to be fixed.

As for the performance, there's nothing we can do about it pre-race, it's all luck. but again we can follow the same procedure and put them aside with a description of the problem.

Perhaps Mizi could do a check list for us.

Everyone involved does a top job, that's for sure

never said it was the club.. as i said just ck needs to do more visual checks and proper maintenance on a regular basis..

naza:

Folks,
We would like to hear from you with regards to the idea of evolving the current K2 system to that currently adopted for the K1 series at the thread below:
