appreciate your advice..,..thanks alot
mikko | sulky many of the questions
sulky many of the questions you ask depend on what regulations you're following. A good place to have a look at the grand daddy of karting regulations is www.cikfia.com. You can download all the sporting and technical regulations there. They're a bit of a read but you can search the pdf files and they cover pretty much everything.
Those are the main regulations sanctioned karting events abide by - and then they have their own series regulations - for example the regulations for Rotax Max Challenges can be found on maxchallenge-rotax.com.
And then of my-kart has their own regulations which you can adapt.
Yes if the minimum weight is defined as 70kg for the driver then for that category a driver weighing 53 would have to add 17kg of lead. I believe My-Kart has a lighter category as well though

good morning guys,
another query i have, as mentioned in earlier replies above....is city kart getting themselves equipped with more ballast equip? how can I verify this and confirm. our next round will be nxt mth at ck i wanna solve this weigh issues once and for all so we do not have future issues or segregation of light and heavy racing and finally consolidating the best from each category to run again.....too much hassle.
also to my understanding, ( pls correct me as i go on) if an average weight is 70 kgs those lighter will be ballasted to 70kgs? even if they weigh a mere 53kgs?
thanks
Regarding ballast at CK, i think some ppl has already replied, so i'm not going to repeat it.
Regarding the 53kg driver, if u want to have the min driver weight at 70kgs, then yes, they'll need to add the ballast on. Why won't u?
sulkyb | dear Fazz, Thanks alot for
dear Fazz,
Thanks alot for your reply,
if im not wrong our point scoring system is as follows
1----------10
2----------8
3----------6
4----------5
5----------4
6----------3
7----------2
8----------1
meaning both drivers ended up with 12 pts each........as you are saying if we see the common rule as per F1........ the driver who got 2nd position and 5th position wins against the driver who finished 3rd in both races?
how do I/we come by joining you guys? arent u guys already into a season or do ya'll have fun rounds which we can come participate. We will be going for our practise this sunday at CK........
need to learn
Thank You

as for points system here is a scenario....i want yr feedbacks!
driver A and Driver B competing in two round races to see over who wins.
round one driver A finished 5th driver B finished 3rd
round two driver A finished 2nd driver B finished 3rd
now between the two who is a winner shoud they both have same points total? this is to determine 2nd runner up on the podium as we have a champ and 1st runner up.......oni 2nd runner up dunnow? can you guys advice
PLS CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS..........ANYONE?
TQVM.......RGDS
determining who is the winner between the two really depends on how you do your scoring. my-kart uses a points scoring system to determine the winners. our scoring goes as follows:
Points table (qualifying heats):
Position.....Score
1.............20
2.............16
3.............14
4.............12
5.............11
6.............10
7..............9
8..............8
9..............7
10.............6
11.............5
12.............4
13.............3
14.............2
15.............1
so in your example, drive B has more points overall (28 vs 27). in case the points are done differently and/or there is a tie, then you have to use a tie breaker rule. in my-kart we use seeding order. ie, the driver with a higher ranking order will win. in F1, they use the drive who has the best finish of the two - which in your example would have been driver A (finished 2nd).
i think some replied to your question by asking you to join our events. that would give you a better appreciation of how the rules work.

mikko,
i agree........but im looking at the perspective of saftey..........most of us are newbies or inexperienced in karting.....the person running whose 4 wheels out of the white line is very experienced.....compared to the rest of us........so perhaps manuplation of rules assuming we dunnow to his benefit.........in any case i dont care about benefit.......if u r capable to manuveour that way is fine but if endanger others.....its a BIG NO NO!!!! fiy we raced after a heavy down-pour........f1 weekend saturday!
btw........my other
big Q.......i will repost no one replied or commented on it
oh another thing............does city kart have ballast? if no? pls can some one reccomend a place where i can buy em? in dire need of ballast? how can i fit a ballast on cirt kart rentals?
many Thanks to all of u who gave input ............really appreciated it!

You run out of the "extra road" a bit too early to be able to make much use of it there - you have to turn in too early if you're way out there. In the wet with a Rotax that area can be very handy though

Jules | ballast, you can buy at dive
ballast, you can buy at dive shops....or if you know foundry, cheaper still.
4 wheel off track not allowed....2 wheels, reasonable but safety is never to be compromised.
Btw, drive outside the track too often, you risk punctures and if only u doing it.....its normally dirty and dun help ur lap times cos its dirty....
At end, how much u can save in time by doing that? u driving consistently 0.2 seconds within ur laps? if not, this wun help....

Yeah, just like adding salt to the wound! Cis!
sulkyb | wow guys that to all of you!
wow guys thanks to all of you! appreciate this feedback. izzit true that city kart has ballasts? last time checked wif dem in Jan, they say dun haf?!?!?!..........if so where can i buy these ballasts and how to fit em in CK karts incase CK dont have enuff. Our league has an average of 71kgs weight. This means those lighter will be fitted with ballast to meet this 71kgs? how abt those way much heavier that that say 80 odd 90 kgs?
do you guys have other ways to sort out weight issues if we dont use ballast? maybe start from behind, few secs delay or pit lane start, bla bla bla...........

timmsm | RawFlesh wrote:I thought I
I thought I read somewhere, min weight is now 65kgs, coz CK doesnt have inuf ballasts?
min driver weight is typically 70Kg. Last round it was reduced due to insufficient available ballast (K1 and K2 running together), but I believe this is being rectified as I type...
RawFlesh | I thought I read somewhere,
I thought I read somewhere, min weight is now 65kgs, coz CK doesnt have inuf ballasts?
rizalkhalid | Weight Issues,1. for K3, no
Weight Issues,
1. for K3, no weight limit
2. for K1 and K2, min weight is 70kg. Light drivers will hv to carry ballast to meet the min weight.
Penalties for errors/wrong doings
1. To be decided by the committee
2. Some penalties given include, stripping off the clothes.. oh! sorry, stripping of the points for the said rounds, disqualification, position penalties, payment for damaged parts, etc
point system should there be a tie
1. In case of a tie, driver who has higher qualifying points wins, if there is a tie, driver who has higher seeding wins, if there is a tie, driver who registers first wins, if there is a tie? just share the points la, why dont u!
ballast
1. as per earlier explanation. applicable to K1 and K2 only to meet min driver weight of 70kg
timing
1. will be used for K1 and K2 only.. mainly for self satisfaction purposes
2. qualifying, grid orders, winners, will be determined by the position you finished with. even if you are the fastest driver of the day, but you can not overtake the driver in front, u still finish behind him.
3. although, there are some proposals to award a point or two for fastest lap ala A1GP
