Shah Alam Stadium Kart Circuit (CCW)

Hafidz Fahro Rozi ("Huffiz") proved once again why he is arguably one of the best K2 drivers in the KART series by claiming a perfect win - KART's equivalent of a hattrick. Huffiz topped all sessions. Huffiz defeated father and son pairing of Naza in second and his son Tarmizi in third. Fazlur Rahman ("Fazz"), Abd Razak Halim and Yusnee Yusof round up the top six finishers in the K2 category.

The K2-45 category (5 drivers) top three finishers were Huffiz, Fazz and Razak. The K2-70 category (10 drivers) top six finishers were Naza, Tarmizi, Yusnee, Shahrul Azlan Ariffin, A Muhaymin and Luen.

K2 report

Qualifying honours in the K2-45 category was shared equally between Huffiz (40pts) and Fazz (36pts). However, Huffiz managed to qualifying absolute top in both sessions, whilst Fazz finished second to K2-70's Naza in one of his qualifying.

Overall qualifying positions went to Huffiz (K2-45, 40pts), Fazz (K2-45, 36pts), Yusnee, Naza and Azlan (all K2-70 & 30pts) followed by Razak in sixth (K2-45, 28pts).

In the feature race, Huffiz used his first choice kart selection and technical skills to leap from 8th on the grid up into 3rd by the end of the first lap, bring Fazz along with him in 4th. Huffiz continued his progress by getting pass Naza for 2nd and then Tarmizi for 1st by the end of the second lap. Huffiz never relinquished the lead from there.

The excitement was in the battle between Naza and Fazz for 3rd place with Tarmizi only slightly ahead in 2nd. This battle raged until lap six when Fazz decided to settle for fourth due to his failing brakes. Fazz had been closing in on Naza and for three consecutive laps from lap three to lap five Fazz made banzai attempts to pass Naza. Each time Naza left the door wide open and Fazz did not to brake in time. After the third attempt at passing Naza, Fazz decided to settle for fourth. This allowed Naza to now concentrate on catching his son Tarmizi. This he did on the very last lap as he slipped by Tarmizi to claim 2nd overall. Razak finished behind this group in a quiet fifth place.

The other battle in the main feature race was between Azlan and Yusnee. Azlan had taken a "red eye" flight from the US and arrived just in time to start the round 2 event. For the first part of the final, Azlan led Yusnee. However, Yusnee managed to pass Azlan on lap five to finish the race in fifth place. Azlan was happy with the precious points scored despite the jet lag.

In the consolation final race, the day belonged to Luen who set the example for Huffiz's achievement in the feature race. Luen started 7th and moved quickly into the lead on lap two which he would retain until the chequered flag. However behind Luen, the battle was frantic between Fahmy Rahman who started 1st, followed be Faez Sullivan, Patrick Tan and Ahmad Hilmy Halim. The finish positions were Hilmy followed by Faez, Patrick and Fahmy. All drivers had fairly eventful races as they battled with each other throughout.
