i was seriously expecting to win this round given my top qualifying achievement. so i was pretty upset that i could not make the most of my first choice of kart.

razak was clearly faster than me... or did I not make full use of kart #5? razak was beating my into the corners and out of them. it would appear that both my entry and exit were too slow.

good thing the usual first corner mayhem happened at the start which allowed both huffiz and i to zip straight into the lead before the second turn. thereafter, i kept inching closer to huffiz, but could not really pull a solid passing move. then razak came hounding up my behind. and that was not pleasant at all.

he was soon passing both of us on pure accelaration. i had to keep in touch with him and at the same time pass huffiz, which i did. but i could not close in on the flying and sliding razak.

damn. this race win should have been mine.

2006 K2 standings after round 9

The championship still looks very close. with one round to go, any of the top 5 drivers down to Fazz can win the K2 championship. Muhaymin in 6th is now out of the hunt although 20pts behind... but he will lose out to Zool on countback. Both could end up with 2 wins each, but Zool will have the solitary 2nd place. Muhaymin's next best score is 3rd (14pts).

Only razak will have to drop points (remember only the best 8 out of 10 scoring positions count towards the championship). so razak's net score is 79pts after deducting the 2pts he scored in round 1.

In the K2/45 - it looks like Zool, Razak and myself all within 1 pt of each other. the K2/70 looks like a father and son two horse race. Well done Naza and family. Also good to see his daughter score her first qualifying win in the K3 class.

Pure bad luck again this round during 2nd heats.

Took kart no.13 believing that lightning do not strike at the same place twice (the kart steering arm broke durng my stint in rd8) but alas, the lightning striked on my engine this time round.

Staring from P4, managed to squeezed thru Steward & ST after turn 1 before turn 2. Was leading on the straights up to the right kink on the straight and the kart start to sputter like having fuel cut-off problem (same experience as the JDM models with speed limiter at 180kph). Everytime I try to throttle up it sputters.
It is sad to see that Jin, Fazz & Zool overtake me when I'm having fuel supply problem as I believe I could have a competitive race and hopefully qualify for final A.
Came into the pits twice to have the problem rectify but to no avail. The kart still sputter before the top speed and I have no choice but to continue the race hoping that the problem will go away. To add to the misery, the airbox keep on turning downwards and I drove the kart with one hand many times.

In the finals, somehow I had a very poor start (I don't know why. Too conservative?) In the end I got stucked behind Steward & ST. ST managed to overtake Steward and pulled away but I'm still stuck behind Steward and this went on for a couple more laps. I managed to overtake Steward when he made a small mistake and set-off to chase Kristo who is still within my sight. I managed to close up a bit but with 2 more laps to go, I know I wouldn't be able to overtake Kristo even if I catch up to him so I decided to just maintain my pace.
Then bad luck struck Luen again in the final B when his kart no.5 broke the left front wheel bearing with 1 lap to go while leading the race. I was sniggering when I saw that happened as it means an extra championship for me (sorrylah bro, everyman for himself in a race). Thanks for the point bro!

A number of drivers had bad luck - and definitely Luen seems one of the champion badluckers. His run of bad luck since round 8 continues to round 9.

Ahhhh.... one more round to the championship... 2 MONTHS TIME!!!

Got to set up a few meetings during ramadhan to plan out the 2007 my-kart programme. anyone with me?
