2008 Round 1- Learnings & suggestions

Submitted by saa73 on Sat, 12 Jan 2008 - 21:50

Dear committee,

Thank you all for a great start to the season. Below is my observations and suggestions for improvement for the rest of 2008 and beyond:

i) Finances:
- K3 prices was increased by RM 10 by CK. We did not opt to raise the price today because it was not communicated to the participants. As a consequence we did not get our usual surplus $$ but essentially broke even.

please feel free to comment my suggestions. Please pardon my "not proper" business english as I have never written a business proposal before, all my techincal proposal only at point forms :D

1. Racing events

1a. K1 - The K1 class will be one of the final stepping stones to a racing career / more serious karting. Initially, we do not expect many participants in K1, but it is still a go status. This class will entail further guidance and allow drivers to move up the ladder in their racing hobby (or career).

member benefits - have your say

The formation of the Kelab my-KART Selangor takes us to a new level.

I mention my-KART's future possibilities in my year end message. One key area that I would like to work on further is on how the Club can serve members better. The Club intends to be a sustainable and relevant one for members and enthusiasts alike. In doing so, we should not move too far away from the core purpose of the club which is to bring racing to the masses - ie, popularising grassroots motorsports.

I know that some have voiced the desire to have driver clinics and coaching as part of the member benefits.

I can barely hide my joy. The guy from Sports Commisioner office said that I can come and collect the Surat Kelulusan esok petang. That was an agonisingly loooooooonnnnnng wait since November 2005!

Additional Info:
Pendaftaran KELAB my-kart Selangor dibawah Akta Pembangunan Sukan 1997 telah diluluskan pada 28 November 2006.

Nombor Pendaftaran Kelab: 2441/2006.

Racing for Children - possible charities

Submitted by TheFazz on Sat, 22 Oct 2005 - 10:33

Folks - It has been sometime since we discussed my-KART's sub-project "Racing for Children".

I strongly believe that my-KART has an important social role in building for our future. The synergies between "building racing talent" and building our nation is something that can and should be leveraged to great effect. To me we (Malaysia) suffer from a low supply of talent making their way into racing. The root problem is affordability. And given a large percentage of families not being able to spend on luxuries such as karting, the need for my-KART to play a social role is even more important. "Racing for Children" is therefore key. And I would like to thank Brian E for the concept... but I would like to see some fruits of this idea become real.

An open invitation to laying the myKART Foundations

Submitted by TheFazz on Fri, 25 Mar 2005 - 08:42

Fellow myKARTers,

I invite all members to participate in building the foundations for myKART as it embarks on its journey towards popularising grassroots motorsports in the 21st century. As is often said, the sky is the limit: for just more than two years myKART has established a reputation as the best kept secret in karting. This should no longer be a secret, and the time is ripe for myKART to be a significant player in the country's motorsports ambitions. This journey will be tough initially, but shall be sustainable and rewarding to all stakeholders.

myKART direction and strategy

The other thread on myKART's legal structure is humming at the moment. There are a number of subtopics raised in that thread which I would like to have tackled in a focussed forum.

One of the main discussion sub-topics were around the subject of myKART's objectives etc. I would like to invite all myKART members to discuss the topic of direction / vision / mission / strategy in this thread.

My vision is for myKART to be the racing equivalent of a company with an upstream and downstream business. Happy to discuss and share your views.

myKART legal structure

Submitted by TheFazz on Wed, 16 Feb 2005 - 08:14

I am doing some research on the legal structure suitable for myKART.... should we go with a Society / Club / Assoc structure or an Enterprise / Sdn Bhd structure?

Bear in mind objectives are to organise karting / motorsports events, gain sponsorship & retain commercial rights to promotion etc. The entity must be self funding in order to benefit members by:
[*]providing members with affordable social karting activities at all levels
[*]focussing on grassroots and to lower the barriers to entry into motorsports
[*]providing members with driver development programmes
[*]helping members progress into other higher forms of motorsports - be it open-wheel / production cars circuit or otherwise
